Dress Code

The purpose of this dress code is to enhance school safety, improve the learning environment, and promote good behavior. Students need to come to school dressed to learn.

Inappropriate clothing includes:

•    Items that display
o    Vulgarity
o    drug, alcohol references
o    violent sayings or pictures
o    discriminatory themes
•    Loose fitting tank tops (Jersey style tank tops may be worn only with a T-shirt underneath.)
•    Hats (indoors)
•    Short shorts
•    Crop tops
•    Bare midriffs, spaghetti straps
•    Baggy pants that don’t stay at waist
•    Flip flops, sandals, open-toed shoes and shoes with over 1-inch heels; they pose an increased risk of injury, especially when worn during recess times, on the playground and during PE classes.

Parents may be contacted to bring a change of clothing to school in the event that their child is inappropriately dressed.

Coats and hats are to be worn outside only. Please make sure your child’s clothing is warm enough as to not necessitate wearing a coat in the building. Students are expected to wear clothing, including tennis shoes, which permits full participation in all physical activities on P.E. days.
